“Sunlight through trees is an entrancing subject to me. The ‘Forest’ series is monochrome exploration of the splinters of bright light glimpsed between the tall dark uprights of tree trunks.
They are paintings on aluminium but also graphite drawings and relate back to 6 foot high charcoal drawings made at Cheltenham Art College in my first year there. For one week we each worked on a single huge drawing; and I still find the physical touch and reach of its making a way to connect with deep, mainly hidden emotions."
